Subscription Box Facebook Ads Agency
The cheapest subscriber to acquire is often the one who cancels after the first discounted box. A campaign that looks efficient on cost per acquisition can quietly lose money if it attracts deal hunters. Our work starts by defining a churn-adjusted cost per acquisition you can live with, then building campaigns and creative around it.
A subscription box Facebook ads agency acquires new subscribers on Facebook and Instagram and judges campaigns by how long those subscribers keep paying, not by the cost of the first box. We run acquisition, creative and tracking for subscription brands at a flat fee by spend band.
01
Churn-adjusted CPA, explained with an example
Imagine two campaigns. Campaign A brings subscribers at 40 USD each, but half cancel after the first box. Campaign B brings subscribers at 60 USD, and most stay for six months or longer. Measured on CPA alone, A wins. Measured on what each subscriber pays over their lifetime, B is usually far better.
The numbers above are illustrations, not results we promise. We build the real version from your subscription data in the first month.
| Measure | How we calculate it |
|---|---|
| First order CPA | Ad spend divided by new subscriptions in the period |
| Retention by cohort | Share of a month's new subscribers still active after 1, 3 and 6 billing cycles |
| Churn-adjusted CPA | Ad spend divided by subscribers who reach a retention milestone you choose, such as the third paid box |
| Payback period | Months until gross margin from a cohort covers what it cost to acquire |
02
Teaching Meta to find subscribers who stay
Meta optimises for the event you give it. If the only signal is the first checkout, it will find more people who check out, including those who cancel quickly. Where your subscription platform allows, we send later events back through the Conversions API, such as the second successful renewal, so campaigns can learn from subscribers who stick around. On Scale and Enterprise this extends to offline or CRM events. More detail on event setup sits on our Conversions API page.
03
Offer design without training deal hunters
Heavy first box discounts bring volume and churn in equal measure. We test alternatives that still lower the barrier to trying.
Each offer is tested against retention, not just signups, so a winner has to prove itself over at least one billing cycle.
- A smaller discount spread over the first three boxes, which rewards staying.
- A gift that arrives in the second box rather than the first.
- Choice and personalisation at signup, which tends to attract people who care about the contents.
- Clear skip and pause options stated in the ad, which reduce the fear of being trapped.
04
Creative that works for subscriptions
Unboxing videos are the obvious format and still among the most useful, provided they show real contents and the reaction is natural. Beyond that, we use ads that explain how the subscription works in three steps, creators showing how they use the contents over a month, and comparison ads that put the box price next to buying the items separately. For subscription brands that sell consumables such as coffee or skincare, refills and routine framing matter more than surprise. Our UGC ads process covers creator briefs for these formats.
05
Plan fit for subscription brands
Subscription brands spending up to 50k USD a month usually start on Growth at 3,000 USD. Scale at 6,000 USD adds offline and CRM conversion uploads, which is often what makes renewal-based optimisation possible, along with more creative volume. Large subscription businesses across several markets use Enterprise. Monthly and annual prices for each band are on our pricing page.
